WROTE PRESCRIPTIONS TO THOSE ABUSING AND DIVERTING THE DRUGS
On April 23, 2024, Dr. ASK (48) of Grantham, New Hampshire, was charged with illegally distributing controlled substances and engaging in health care fraud.
Apparently, outside of the “usual course” of his professional practice, the physician is alleged to have prescribed controlled substances to people “without a legitimate medical purpose.” In addition to demanding cash payments, he is said to have prescribed drugs to individuals that he knew were “abusing and diverting” the medications.
He is also alleged to have ordered urine tests that weren’t medically necessary so that he could secure “kickbacks and bribes” from the labs that were given the work.
The doctor is charged with “one count of conspiracy to commit unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, 12 counts of illegal distribution of a controlled substance, one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, and two counts of health care fraud.” And, if found guilty, he faces up to two decades in prison on the illegal distribution counts and up to 10 years in prison on each of the health care fraud counts.
As a condition of his release, pending a trial, he is not permitted to write prescriptions for controlled substances.
I guess we can count that doctor out.
