FEMALE EMPLOYEE SUBJECTED TO UNWELCOME CONDUCT, ADVANCES AND REQUESTS
According to a press released issued by the U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Gateway Classic Cars – “the world's largest classic car sales company” – was sued at the end of April for subjecting a female employee to a “sexually hostile work environment.”
Apparently, the company’s CFO/COO -- the highest-ranking executive -- made “unwelcome sexual conduct, advances and requests.” He is also said to have asked for “nude pictures,” and repeatedly asked her to visit him in his hotel room. (He also reportedly discouraged her from complaining to human resources.)
Since such conduct is allegedly violative of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the EEOC filed suit, Civil Action No. 1:24-cv-00721-MPB-TAB in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, Indianapolis Division, seeking monetary damages and injunctive relief.
In a written statement, EEOC Indianapolis District Director Michelle Eisele noted that, “The EEOC is dedicated to ensuring that women are protected from unwelcome sexual conduct in their places of work.”
Now this one looks like it’s going to be a classic ….
