Pride Month is dedicated to honoring the many members of the LGBTQ+ community and their contributions to the country and their impact on history. In addition to celebrating LGBTQ+ culture, it seeks to further rights and protections for all those under the group’s umbrella — including asexual, nonbinary, pansexual, and more.▫️
Its official name has morphed over the decades. Back in 1999, President Bill Clinton first designated June as “Gay and Lesbian Pride Month,” with President Barack Obama proclaiming it “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transexual Pride Month,” about a decade later. At the end of May, President Biden renamed it, “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Pride Month.”

Acknowledging their decades-long struggle to achieve equality, Biden recently noted that “courageous LGBTQI+ Americans continue to inspire and bring hope to all people seeking a life true to who they are.” And that message is at the very core of MAKEUP — a feature-length film written and directed by London-based Hugo Andre.

In this “dramedy,” an introverted French food critic relocates to London to begin a new life as a food critic. After renting a room in a house belonging to a successful stockbroker, an unusual friendship is formed … and secrets are slowly revealed.
