IT’S DOG-EAT-DOG IN WASKOM, TEXAS

USED ANIMALS IN A “MAJOR DOG-FIGHTING EVENT”

JAS of Waskom, Texas, appeared in court on May 29, 2024, in response to a grand jury indictment charging him with federal dogfighting offenses.

On November 13, 2023, he is said to have “organized and hosted a large-scale dogfighting event” on his family’s property in Harrison County, Texas.

Because it is illegal to “possess, train, transport, deliver, sell, purchase or receive dogs for fighting purposes,” JAS faces up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine (for each count charged).

This case will likely dog him for a very long time.

An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
