ILLEGALLY SENT FIREARMS TO RUSSIA

EXPORTED FIREARM PARTS, COMPONENTS, AND AMMUNITION

DT (58), a US-Russian citizen, pleaded guilty in early June to “conspiracy to violate the Export Control Reform Act by exporting firearm parts, components, and ammunition to Russia without the required authorization.”

From July 2020 to 2023, DT worked with a Russia-based associate to send weapons to that country. The associate then paid the tuition for DT’s daughter and the rent for an apartment in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Without the appropriate license, DT sent multiple packages to Russia or to locations, such as Kazakhstan, knowing that they would ultimately be redirected to Russia. He also said to have lied about the shipments’ contents on manifests.

Scheduled to be sentenced on November 8, 2024, DT faces up to 5 years in prison.

Would you call that poetic license?
