THESE GUYS STOLE CREDIT & DEBIT CARD DATA OVER THE COURSE OF A DECADE
According to a May 8, 2024, press release issued by the United States Department of Justice, seven men were incited and charged with “racketeer influenced and corrupt organizations (RICO) conspiracy and money laundering,” for their involvement in a “large-scale gas pump skimming device” and data collection scheme.
Apparently, for a about a decade (2014 to 2024), these seven men installed skimming devices on gas pumps throughout the county and collected credit and debit card information from unsuspecting customers. The miscreants then created fraudulent cards which they used to make retail-store (and other) purchases.
If convicted, the men face up to twenty years in prison on each count.
An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
Bet they wish they could skim over that ….
