Bentonville, Arkansas, described by the Wall Street Journal as the “new capital of cool,” is the home of the BENTONVILLE FILM FESTIVAL. Led by Academy Award winner Geena Davis, and sponsored by the BFFoundation — a non-profit “focused on promoting underrepresented voices of diverse storytellers,” including “female, non-binary, LBGTQIA+, BIPOC, API and persons with disabilities”) — the festival is marking its 10th year of “cinematic excellence,” from June 10-16, 2024.▫️
Among the films screening at this year’s event, you’ll find DRAGONFLY — an animated short written and directed by Julia Morizawa.

Inspired by the lives of Julia’s maternal grandparents, and the stories her mom shared about growing up on the family farm in Japan, this unique work examines the devastating impact of the Tokyo Firebombing of March 9-10, 1945, and addresses “the generational trauma of war, the power of family, and finding the strength to rise from the ashes.”
