CONVICTED OF DEFRAUDING MEDICARE/MEDICAID OUT OF $2 MILLION
Dr. EA (75), of Las Vegas, Nevada, was convicted by a federal jury of “conspiracy to commit health care fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States and receive kickbacks.”
Apparently, the doctor issued “medically unnecessary” prescriptions to fictitious patients so that he could receive kickbacks from a Detroit pharmacy; causing a loss to Medicare and Medicaid of about $2 million.
Scheduled to be sentenced on September 25, the doctor faces up to ten years on the “health care fraud count,” and up to five years on the kickbacks count.
Bet he’s kicking himself in the backside now ….
