OPERATED AN ILLEGAL STREAMING SERVICE

COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT WILL GET THEM JAIL TIME

In late June, five men were convicted by a Las Vegas jury of operating a streaming service which violated the rights of copyright owners, while generating millions of dollars in subscription revenues.

The service, known as “Jetflicks,” secured illegal copies of television episodes and amassed a catalog of shows such that allegedly exceeded those of Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and Amazon Prime, combined.

All were found guilty of “conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement,” one man, D, was also convicted of “two counts of money laundering by concealment and three counts of misdemeanor criminal copyright infringement.”

D faces up to 48 years in prison, while his cohorts face up to five years.
