FILED NO EMPLOYMENT TAX RETURNS OVER SIX-YEAR PERIOD
J.R of Houma, Louisiana, was sentenced to 2 years in prison for purloining employment tax monies that were due to the IRS.
As Chief Financial Officer of a pipeline maintenance and construction company, J.R. was responsible for “collecting, accounting for and paying over” the employment taxes taken from its personnel. But for about six years – 2012 to 2018 -- no quarterly employment tax returns were filed (nor monies paid).
J.R. is said to have stolen some $6 million. In addition to his prison term, he must pay $2,174.280.71 in restitution to the government.
That doesn’t seem particularly taxing to us.
