WILL THEY GET SLAUGHTERED FOR “AGGRESSIVE SEXUAL HARASSMENT?”
Sis-Bro, Inc., a hog farm based out of New Athens, Illinois, is alleged to have violated federal law when it allowed an employee to be subjected to “aggressive sexual harassment.”
Apparently, as the individual was undergoing a gender identity change, a company co-owner is said to have made “derogatory comments;” calling her by her former male name; repeatedly indicating “she was ‘a guy;’” and disparaged her for using the company’s health insurance and taking leave for “gender affirming care.”
Additionally, a fellow employee is said to have exposed himself to her, touched her breasts, and made “frequent unwanted comments and sexual advances” – with much of the foregoing occurring in public.
Since the company didn’t have an established harassment policy in place, and because it failed to address the misconduct, the trans individual subject to the abuse was reportedly “forced to quit.”
Believing that such conduct violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed suit (EEOC v. Sis-Bro, Inc., Case No. 3:24-cv-968) in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, East St. Louis Division, seeking monetary damages and injunctive relief.
In a written statement, EEOC Chicago District Director Amrith Kaur Aakre noted that, “The investigation revealed that Sis-Bro Inc., through its co-owner, engaged in and failed to address severe and pervasive harassment over the course of years …. The EEOC is committed to ensuring transgender individuals are protected from harassment and other discrimination in the workplace.”
Nah, Bro!
