MEN MISAPPROPRIATED MEDICARE MILLIONS

SUBMITTED FRAUDULENT BILLING AND LOAN APPS

GA (40) of Glendale, California, owner and manager of two hospice facilities, was sentenced in late March to a year and one day in prison and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $9,185,21, while his biller and consultant, KS (45), received the same sentence and ordered to pay $3,688,050.

Apparently, from about January 2019 to May 2021, GA used his companies to fraudulently bill Medicare for hospice services that were never provided, and fraudulently procured COVID-19 relief. (“Fraudulent loan applications” were purportedly submitted to the Small Business Administration and other agencies.)

KS “submitted false and fraudulent Medicare enrollment forms” ultimately securing an additional $3,668,050 in funds.

On March 13, 2023, GA pleaded guilty to “conspiracy to commit health care fraud,” while several weeks later, on April 3, 2023, KS pleaded guilty to “conspiracy to defraud the United States.”
