WOMAN’S SAVINGS BONDS WERE COUNTERFEIT

OVER $1.6 MILLION IN PHONY SAVINGS BONDS WERE REDEEMED

SMC, (45), of Fontana, California, pleaded guilty on October 4, 2023, to engaging in a counterfeit savings bond scheme.

Apparently, she conspired to with others to “create, pass, and transfer” counterfeit U.S. Treasury savings bonds at financial institutions in Texas and elsewhere.

Purloining some $1.6 million, SMC and her co-conspirators wrongfully used IDs belonging to others (without their knowledge or consent) to redeem the paper.

Scheduled to be sentenced on December 20, the woman faces up to 20 years in prison.
