THIS GUY BRED DOGS TO FIGHT IN MATCHES AROUND THE WORLD
The owner of a dog-kennel business was sentenced to seven years in prison for violating the federal Animal Welfare Act and for “possession of dogs for use in animal fighting ventures.”
Over the course of some 35 years, ACM, the “Caribbean legend” of dog-fighting, participated in over 150 dog matches, and bred “pit-bull type dogs for fights in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, the Dominican Republic” and various US cities.
For thousands of dollars, ACM would also offer animals for sale and ship them around the world.
In a written statement, U.S. Attorney W. Stephen Muldrow noted that, “Dogfighting for entertainment and profit is not only cruel and inhumane, but also a violation of federal law …. This sentencing ends the defendant’s decades-long involvement in this illegal business and hopefully will deter others.”
That will likely dog him for a while.
