Don’t you hate it when a restaurant’s website gets all whacky, and its message borders on the incomprehensible?
▫️
Well, unfortunately, SIXTY VINES — which you’ll find at 5050 Town Center, Boca Raton, (FL) – has a page that’s off the charts.
▫️
Who the heck came up with this nonsense:
▫️
“Because you want to unwind. Because Tulum is still eight months away. Because it might turn into a date. Because wine should be fun, not complicated. Because you shouldn’t need a reason at all. Great food and great wine go hand-in-hand, and at Sixty Vines, we believe it all tastes better together.” (Huh?)
▫️
In any event, since we were there for some food, we next went with the “CAMPANELLE — shrimp, garlic, grape tomato, basil, white wine sauce” ($18).
▫️
Also known as “gigli,” this pasta is cut the shape of “little bells” (or “campanelle,” as they’re called in Italian). Others claim its modelled after the flowers which you’ll find on the coat of arms for the Italian city of Florence. But the only bells we experienced here … were of the alarm kind.
▫️
Because we had our doubts about the accompanying white wine sauce, we asked for ours “on the side,” (so that we could adjust the dish to our preferences). And it was fortuitous that we made that request, because it came out looking like a pool of fluid which flowed from some creature’s kidneys.
▫️
While it wasn’t awful, it wasn’t that great either. And since the whole kit and kaboodle, including the overcooked pasta, looked pretty unappealing, this pedestrian dish ultimately rated a lowly “C.”
▫️
Ironically, a guest mentioned, in passing, that this dish certainly didn’t ring her bell, either.
