MOM GUILTY OF NEGLECT

WOULDN’T GET OFF DRUGS

After a mother was found by the New York Family Court to have “permanently neglected” her child, an appeal ensued

While a social services agency tried to help improve the parent-child relationship, the mother apparently failed to cooperate. Among other things, it is reported that she failed to seek mental-health treatment (believing that it wasn’t needed), failed to complete a drug treatment program, and tested positive for drugs.

Given that backdrop, the Appellate Division, First Department, thought that the outcome was supported by “clear and convincing evidence,” and left it undisturbed.

She certainly didn't get the red-carpet treatment either ....
