THE MAKING OF HARRY POTTER
▫️
The films made Leavesden (England) their home for about a decade – and over the various iterations of the series, many iconic sets, props, and costumes were preserved. Eventually, the creative team decided to create a unique fan-based experience on a “set” adjacent to the actual studio facilities where all the “magic” occurred.
▫️
First opened on March 31, 2012, the “Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter” is still a hot attraction, where visitors are allowed to explore two soundstages and a backlot filled with original sets, animatronic creatures and astounding special effects (like the one you see here, in the accompanying clip).
▫️
Timed entry slots are sold out weeks in advance, and there’s typically a 10-minute wait to access the website’s ticketing page. And expect to fork over some significant cash for the privilege. At the time of my visit, they were asking £49.95 ($65 approx.) for an adult, £39.95 ($52 approx.) for a child, £159 ($207 approx.) for a family.
▫️
If you’re a movie buff, Potter fan, or looking for something “different” to do while in the London area, it’s certainly worth a pilgrimage … that’s if you can make the hefty entry fees magically appear.
