SUNSET SUSHI'S KAMPACHI
▫️
Next up was some “King Kampachi,” which are widely regarded as among the ocean’s hardest fighters, such that they’re nicknamed “El Pez Fuerte;” the strong fish. Here in the US, they’re called the “Alamo Jack.” A member of the Carangidae family, they’re found in the western Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Ocean feeding on smaller fish and invertebrates. With a lifespan of about 17 years, their weight can range between 14-30 pounds (6.3-13.6 kg), but some have been known to exceed 130 pounds (59 kg).
▫️
When served raw, expect a clean, crisp bite and a rich, buttery flavor. And as an extra bonus, expect some nice health benefits, as it’s full of high-quality proteins and heart-healthy Omega-3s. (And they supposedly harbor no detectable mercury or PCBs.)
▫️
Because we enjoyed this offering, we unanimously rated it (a near perfect) “A-,” with only the meal’s price point triggering some point deductions.
▫️
It’s been famously said that “every sunset is a journey.” Well, you’re certain to have an enthralling, culinary one at Chef Bou’s SUNSET SUSHI.
