Friends,
People ask me tough questions all the time on the campaign trail. Sometimes, the answers are just as tough. And then there are the easy questions.
Do I support Medicare for All? Do I take climate change seriously? What about gun reform? A woman's right to choose? Income inequality? Getting big money out of politics?
These are the easy answers.
I support Medicare for All because it's the morally right and financially responsible thing to do. We need a healthcare system that is not driven by profits, but by the premise that affordable health care is a right for all Americans
Climate change is the single greatest threat we face and it is imperative we take immediate steps to address it. We must do more to invest in clean, sustainable energy.
There is a gun violence epidemic in this country, and it's time to stand up to the NRA and immediately pass meaningful gun reform laws. We need universal background checks and to make assault weapons and high-capacity magazines illegal.
Trump and the Republicans don’t trust women to make their own health care decisions, and it’s wrong. I’m running for Congress because we need to protect women’s access to make decisions about their own health.
The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. We need to demand that corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share, while also fighting to protect and expand the rights of organized labor.
Citizens United must be overturned. That's why I'm proud to be truly funding my campaign with grassroots donations – we've already raised nearly $500,000 online with an average gift of $27.
But our race is Democrats' best chance in the ENTIRE country to flip a Republican seat – Trump lost the district by almost 20 points! – and Paul Ryan's national group has already run ads against me because I support progressive policies.
If we're going to flip this seat, take back the House for Democrats, and enact our progressive agenda, I'm counting on you to give now and make sure we have the resources we need to fight back and win:
Thank you for being on this journey with me. I couldn't do it without you.
