Both Governor Cuomo and the State Assembly included funding for early
voting in their budget proposals, but the Republican-controlled State
Senate is holding out. The fate of early voting will be decided this week
while our state representatives meet in Albany to finalize the state budget.
Not only do we need Governor Cuomo to stand firm in these negotiations,
but we also need State Senator Jeff Klein -- chair of the Independent
Democratic Conference -- to rally more support for early voting in the Senate.

servicemembers, and so many others who can't always get to the polls
to vote. New Yorkers will be able to cast their ballots on days that are
convenient for them and not be forced to choose between work, family,
and voting.
