I want to talk to you about an issue that we can all get behind as a country:
Keeping foreign money out of our elections.
On a fundamental level, I think we can all agree that foreign governments
and corporations have no business influencing the outcome of our elections.
But right now, loopholes in our campaign finance system allow foreign
entities to secretly spend unlimited sums of money to back candidates
who will advance their interests.
This is not a partisan issue. This is an American issue. Americans need to know that the allegiance of their elected leaders isn’t
compromised.
It’s not too much to ask that we keep our elections free of foreign
money. That’s why I’m teaming up with other lawmakers to demand
that Congress pass the DISCLOSE Act.
It would eliminate the loophole allowing foreign money to flow into our
political system.
