Thursday, May 24th, 6:00 PM -- "Here are the Women!", Stonewall Democrat's 26th Annual Fundraiser
Earlier this year, when a congressional hearing called an all male panel to talk about contraception, our friend U.S. Representative Carolyn Maloney asked, "Where are the Women?" We answer her question this year, with an event honoring several special women, and one honorary woman. Here Are the Women!: GMHC CEO Dr. Marjorie Hill, Council Member Annabel Palma and Planned Parenthood NYC. Plus we will be honoring our former President Joseph Hagelmann. Save this date to join the Stonewall Democratic Club of New York City in the celebration of our twenty-sixth annual event at the Woolworth Tower Kitchen on the ground floor of the beautiful skyscraper in Lower Manhattan. Wednesday, May 2nd, 6:00 PM -- Free Screening of Bully, the Documentary
Join Speaker Christine C. Quinn, US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Stonewall Democrats in a free screening of Bully, the documentary. The movie is about 5 kids and families over the course of a school year, stories include 2 families who have lost children to suicide and a mother awaiting the fate of her 14-year-old daughter who has been incarcerated after bringing a gun on her school bus. With an intimate glimpse into homes , classrooms, cafeterias and principals' offices, offering insight into the often cruel world of th lives of bullied children. Through the power of their stories, the film aims to be a catalyst for change in the way we deal with bullying as parents, teachers, children and society as a whole. View thetrailer . Wednesday, May 2nd, 6:00 PM - Ben Franklin Democrat club to honor Stonewall Democrat Board Member Dirk McCall
Ben Franklin Democratic Club is hosting their 52nd annual dinner on Wednesday, May 2nd at 6:00 PM. Join Stonewall Democrats in honoring its own Dirk McCall at Riverdale Temple, 4545 Independence Avenue, at West 246th Street. Cocktails start at 6 PM and Dinner starts at 7 PM. Tickets are $140. On Thursday May 10 2012, the Powhatan - Pocahontas Democratic Club will hold their 2012 Annual Dinner Dance at Ricardo's by the Bridge, located at 21-01 24th Avenue, in Astoria, New York. One of this year's honorees is our very own Michael Mallon! Thursday, May 17th, 6:00 PM - Stonewall Democrat President Melissa Sklarz to be honored at Alliance Dinner
The Gay/Straight Alliance of the New York State Justice System is hosting its Third Annual Dinner/Dance. On Thursday, May 17, join Stonewall Democrats for Cocktails at 6pm and Dinner/Dance starting at 7:30. The Alliance Dinner will be at The Grand Prospect Hall, 263 Propect Avenue between 5th and 6th Avenues in Brooklyn, NY. This year's honorees are Governor Andrew Cuomo (in absentia), Alphonso David, Deputy Secretary of Civil Rights, the Hon. Lawrence Marks, Administrative Director for the Office of Court Administration, and our Melissa Sklarz, President of Stonewall Democratic Club of New York City. Wednesday, May 30th, 8:00 PM -- General Membership Monthly Meeting
The next general membership meeting of the Stonewall Democratic Club of New York City will be held on Wednesday, May 30th at 8:00 PM. Join us at the LGBT Center, 208 West 13th Street (between 7th avenue and Greenwich avenue) in room 301. We will be making the official Federal endorsements for various Congressional seats throughout the five boroughs. In order to vote, please ensure you are in good standing with your membership dues .
