Governor David A. Paterson today announced the nomination of Wayne M. Ozzi to the Court of Claims.
"I am proud to appoint and nominate such a talented attorney to serve on our courts," Governor Paterson said. "His experience and dedication will be a tremendous asset to New York's highly accomplished and respected courts."
Mr. Ozzi is currently the principal Law Clerk to Justice Robert J. Gigante, a position he has held since 2000. From 1982 to 1999, he was a Court Attorney-Referee and Supervising Court Attorney for the New York State Supreme Court in Richmond County. From 1981 to 1982, he was a law assistant to Hon. John Cannizzaro. From 1980 to 1981, he was a staff attorney at the National Association of Securities Dealers. From 1979 to 1980, he engaged in the private practice of law and in 1978, he was an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County. Mr. Ozzi received his Bachelor of Arts from Queens College in 1974. He received his J.D. from University of Dayton School of Law in 1978 and his LL.M. from New York University School of Law in 1983.
The annual salary of a Court of Claims Judge is $136,700. This nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.
