On Tuesday, June 30, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will join Utopia Home Care President Manuel F. Martinez in presenting a proclamation to Utopia's 2009 "Caregiver of the Year" honoree Michelle Harris of Brooklyn, who overcame a personal tragedy 20 years ago when her mother, sister, aunt and three-year-old daughter were murdered by her brother. She used the tragedy as a way to help others by studying to become a home health aide. In 2007, Harris joined Utopia Home Care, the largest minority-owned company on Long Island.
Harris lives in East Flatbush and works at Utopia Home Care's office at 26 Court Street in Downtown Brooklyn.
