Now in its 10th year, DISORIENT — the Asian American Film Festival of Oregon — seeks to celebrate “films with authentic Asian Pacific American voices, histories and stories.” A 501(c)(3) non-profit, the organization highlights “social justice themes that translate to universal human experiences,” and promotes “representation, diversity and inclusion to broaden the narrative of who is American, and to strengthen and build community.”

We’re honored to announce that, on March 10, 2024, at 11:11 AM (PDT), as part of the official in-person festivities, you’ll find DRAGONFLY screening at the Art House Theatre #2, 492 E. 13th Ave., Eugene, OR.

Written and directed by Julia Morizawa, this animated short was inspired by the lives of Julia’s maternal grandparents and the stories her mom shared about growing up on the family farm in Japan.

Based upon the devastating impact of the Tokyo Firebombing of March 9-10, 1945, this unique work addresses “the generational trauma of war, the power of family, and finding the strength to rise from the ashes.”
