THIS MAYOR ACCEPTED BRIBES

AWARDED GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS IN EXCHANGE FOR CASH

In a press release issued in mid-February, the United States Department of Justice announced that a former mayor of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in prison for receiving cash payments in exchange for awarding municipal contracts.

APO (53) is said to have engaged in that misconduct from 2019 thru 2021 and is alleged to have accepted “thousands of dollars in cash bribes on a regular basis.” In exchange, he would ensure that government contracts were awarded (or retained) and that the vendor’s invoices were “promptly paid.”

APO was convicted by a federal jury of “federal program bribery, and extortion,” back in March of 2023.

Think that paid off?
