STALKED & THREATENED PERSON WHO PROMOTED DEMOCRACY IN CHINA

FACES UP TO 5 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CYBERSTALKING AND 5 MORE FOR THREATS

A student with the Berklee College of Music was indicted in mid-January for “stalking and threatening and individual who posted fliers [around the campus area] in support of democracy in China.”

Apparently, XW (25), who objected to the posting of messages which read, “Stand with Chinese People,” “We Want Freedom,” and “We Want Democracy,” is alleged to have informed the victim, “Post more, I will chop your bastard hands off.” He is also said to have told the victim that he had informed Chinese security agencies about the conduct, and that the victim’s family would be “greeted” by local officials. XW also posted the victim’s email online, so that others could harass that individual.

XW faces up to five by years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000 for cyberstalking, and the same array of penalties for the “interstate transmissions of threatening communication.”

The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Ironically, that stalker is now getting stalked by the United States Department of Justice ….
