On April 19, 2024, VARIETY — widely known as “the most authoritative and trusted source of entertainment business news” — exclusively announced that Elodie Grace Orkin and Samuel Small are starring in SCREENING ROOM, a new short written and directed by Forbes “30 Under 30” honoree, Abdullah Khan.▫️
Khan’s most recent film is about a couple’s encounter at a London film festival. By happenstance, a young screenwriter (Small) meets a “mysterious woman” (Orkin), and the duo appear to “bond over their shared love of cinema.”

Maria Almeida (“The Strays”), Kika Green (“House of the Dragon”), Alan Emrys (“Host”) and Ken Christiansen (“It’s a Sin”) round out the short’s cast.

In a statement to Variety, Khan noted that, “The intention was to celebrate the moviegoing experience …. When we go into these dark spaces and lose ourselves into the screen, there are always interactions between strangers that make the experience even more memorable.”

Produced by yours truly, in conjunction with Khan, the short should be hitting the festival circuit over the next few months.

This marks my third film with Khan. Our prior projects being, “Path to Ecstasy,” (2023) — starring Olivier Award winner Michael Jibson (“Hamilton”) and Louis Ashbourne-Serkis (“The Kid Who Would be King”) — and, “Find the Light,” (2022), starring the incomparable George MacKay (“1917”).
