THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET HAPPY @DIFF
Since 2006, DALLAS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, a nonprofit organization, has been offering “accessible, inclusive, immersive, educational, and entertaining film experiences for all people.” Having disbursed over $1 million in awards, hosted over 2000 filmmakers, and screened over 2000 films from more than 50 countries, DIFF remains committed to offering a “place for storytellers and audiences to connect and experience film as a community.”

Its 18th annual event will be held from April 25 to May 4, 2024, at the Violet Crown Dallas. And competing in this year’s Best Comedy Screenplay category is HAPPY AS LARRY — a feature-length script written by London-based writer and director, Hugo Andre.

In this story, a successful novelist finds himself in a deep funk. Unable to find satisfaction in his life’s work or personal relationships, our protagonist treks to the Scottish mountainside in hopes to end his depressive state. But as luck would have it, he encounters a few characters, and hurdles, along the way.

We’re honored to announce that, just days ago, DIFF informed Hugo that his screenplay was picked as a SEMI-FINALIST in the Best Comedy category. And that it’s currently in contention for a “GRAND SCREENPLAY PRIZE” (with the winner to be announced soon).
