Donald Trump's FCC has voted to repeal net neutrality rules, undoing our hard-fought, crucial protections that allowed an open Internet free from Big Telecom's interference. Progressive, independent websites like Daily Kos might be in real danger now.

As with so many things in the Trump Era, this was not a fair fight. There was some foul play.

Over two million fake public comments were submitted to the FCC in favor of repealing net neutrality—according to an investigation by the New York Attorney General's Office.

Many of these fake comments were cases of identity theft. One comment, for example, was submitted in July 2017—although the person died of cancer in June. Even U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy (who strongly supports net neutrality and opposed the FCC rule change) had his identity stolen with a fake public comment submitted.

Keep fighting,
