Mom of mentally ill Harlem man shot dead by NYPD to meet with U.S. Attorney Joon Kim

(Andrew Savulich/New York Daily News)The mother of an emotionally disturbed man who was fatally shot in the head by police will meet with Manhattan U.S. Attorney Joon Kim on Tuesday, her supporters said.
Hawa Bah’s son, Mohamed Bah, was killed on Sept. 25, 2012.
The mom said she called 911 because her son, 28, was going through a “mental health crisis.” NYPD Emergency Services Unit officers who rolled up to his Harlem apartment said they shot Bah after he charged at them with a knife.
But his family contends Bah was never a danger — and that he was actually “wounded on the ground” when the fatal shot hit him.

A Manhattan grand jury decided against indicting the officers in 2013, and Hawa Bah has been pushing since then for the U.S. Attorney to investigate.
"U.S. Attorney Joon Kim (pictured) recently scheduled an Aug. 22 meeting with Bah family via their attorney,” the Justice Committee said in a statement.

Kim’s office declined to comment.
Bah’s family is pursuing a $70 million civil lawsuit against the city in relation to his death.
