TERRY TREVIAL'S TRAVAILS

DA VANCE: TERRY TREVIAL INDICTED FOR STABBING EX-GIRLFRIEND, ASSAULTING TWO COWORKERS

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., recently announced the indictment of TERRY TREVIAL, 40, for repeatedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend in her office building, and then attacking two of his coworkers with an ax inside the Con Edison building where he worked. The defendant is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with two counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, in addition to multiple counts of Assault and Attempted Assault in the First Degrees, and Assault in the Second Degree.[1]

“All too often, domestic violence spills into the workplace – with devastating consequences for victims, their colleagues, and their employers,” said District Attorney Vance. “As this alleged rampage illustrates, when a victim of domestic violence leaves a relationship, the workplace may be the first place their abuser comes looking. In fact, one-third of all women killed in U.S. workplaces between 2003 and 2008 were killed by a current or former intimate partner. No workplace is immune to domestic violence, and all companies should have proactive mechanisms in place to support victims, provide them with services, and keep them safe.

“The violence alleged here began in offices with fewer than a dozen employees, and ended in an office with hundreds. There are resources available to victims through the Manhattan Family Justice Center at 80 Centre Street, or call our hotline at 212-335-4308. Help is available to those in need.”

According to court documents and statements made on the record in court, at approximately 2:25 p.m. on June 22, 2015, TREVIAL followed his 36-year-old ex-girlfriend to the Upper East Side building where she worked and, after being let into the building’s lobby, stabbed her with a knife at least six times in the abdomen, side, and buttocks. Approximately 20 minutes later, TREVIAL entered the Con Edison building in Union Square where he was employed as a Commercial Service Representative, and demanded to see one of his supervisors. When he could not find him, TREVIAL attacked a different manager with an ax, and then cut a second manager who tried to intervene. TREVIAL was eventually stopped by security personnel and other employees, and held until the police arrived.

Assistant District Attorney Sherita Walton is handling the prosecution of this case under the supervision of Assistant District Attorney Warren Murray, Chief of Trial Bureau 50; and Executive Assistant District Attorney John Irwin, Chief of the Trial Division.

District Attorney Vance thanked members of the NYPD’s 13th and 19th Precincts for their assistance with the investigation.
