Lucas,
Speaker John Boehner's resignation means that we might not be headed
to a government shutdown but we can't breathe a sigh of relief just
yet. Conservative Republicans are still pushing to defund Planned Parenthood's
vital health services. Boehner's resignation means that Tea Party
Republicans are more empowered and are going after Planned Parenthood
even more aggressively.
Even if the federal government isn't in danger of shutting down, Wednesday
is still our campaign's third quarter fundraising deadline. Every
contribution that comes in before 11:59 pm on September 30th will count
for this big deadline.
Get your contribution before midnight Wednesday night and you'll be
sticking it to Tea Party Republicans AND helping Keith Wright win.
We can't take a step back from this fight. Congressional Republicans
are plotting new ways to go after Planned Parenthood. They're going
to hold biased investigative hearings and will be using a parliamentary
trick called reconciliation to defund Planned Parenthood in December.
Speaker Boehner's resignation empowers Tea Party extremists to launch
an all-out war on women's health.
Make no mistake: Republicans are attacking women's rights and their
access to quality affordable healthcare. That burden would fall disproportionately on low-income women and people
of color who depend on Planned Parenthood for breast cancer screenings,
routine check ups, preventive care and health education. They are Keith
Wright's constituents and he'll never hesitate to speak up.
But Keith Wright stands against these attacks. Back him up with a contribution
of $5, $10, or $25 before Wednesday's deadline!
Keith has been a leader for decades and he's ready to continue Congressman
Charlie Rangel's legacy as our voice in Washington. But he can't
do it without all of our help.
