IN MEMORIAM: HARVEY A. SACKSTEIN

Dear Colleagues,

I am deeply saddened to share with you the passing of longtime NYSTLA member and Long Island trial lawyer Harvey A. Sackstein, Esq.

From his obituary:

Born December 30, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, he is survived by his cherished wife of almost 60 years, Iris, children Ellen, Mark and Robert, daughter-in-laws Georgina and Robin, and grandchildren Michael, Paul, Sophie, Matthew, Daniel and James. A graduate of Brooklyn Law School, he practiced law for 62 years and was universally held in the highest esteem. He was a solo practitioner for many years, while also an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. Ultimately Harvey became the founding partner of the law firm Sackstein Sackstein & Lee, LLP, where he especially enjoyed working with his children Ellen and Mark. An optimistic man with a zest for life, he always had a smile and a kind word. He enjoyed traveling, reading, sports and the arts, but his greatest joy was being in the company of his family and close friends. Harvey was a champion of those in need, whether through his law practice, philanthropy or everyday life. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

The funeral service will be held at Gutterman's, 175 N Long Beach Rd, Rockville Centre, NY, at 12:00PM on Sunday, October 26th.

The family will be sitting Shiva Sunday October 26 through Tuesday October 28 at the home of Mark & Robin Sackstein, 24 Roxen Rd, Rockville Centre, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of Harvey's favorite charities, The Southern Poverty Law Center.

Sincerely,

Michael S. Levine
President
